Square Enix launches Staff Tournament

People over at the Square Enix Members website have got a lot to do, in reference to Dissidia. I posted articles earlier about the Dissidia segment of their website gaining the ability to send personalized greeting cards, as well as sharing Battle Replays. Now Square Enix is taking the matter personally.

A Staff Tournament has been announced and begun. This Tourney is set between the Marketing, Sales, and PR staff at Square Enix. They also note they did not invite QA to this tournament in fear of getting their rear ends kicked.

The Rules are as follows:
- One battle per each matchup; the winner proceeds to the next round.
- Equipment/Summon: You may equip anything available.
- Accessories: You may not equip “Breakability 100%” accessories, except for Phoenix Down and Phoenix Pinion.
- The base level is 70; since each participant has a different degree of experience with the game, each player will be handicapped based on the seeding. Example: if #1 seed and #5 seed are playing, #1 will be handicapped -5 (Lv. 65).

The battles started today, with the following conflicts taking place in the preliminaries:

Warrior of Light (Aace12) vs Gabranth (FruitsMedley)
Cloud of Darkness (RAMBO4LIFE) vs Kuja (tomotarou)

After they were completed, Gabranth (FruitsMedley) and Cloud of Darkness (RAMBO4LIFE) proceeded to Round 1:

Squall (JohnnyDebug) vs. Firion (TROJ4ND4N)
Shantotto (LoLa) vs. Cloud of Darkness (RAMBO4LIFE)

So far, this tournament has been quite the fun idea. We’ll soon see it progress and see who ends up on top. Make your bets, people! I’ll be back with more updates soon.
